Approach

In my approach to counselling, I draw on psychoanalytic theory, particularly the teachings of Jacques Lacan. I find psychoanalytic literature invaluable in orienting the work and shaping the direction of the sessions. One lesson of psychoanalysis, which I find insightful, is its emphasis on individuality and otherness. Everyone is different, and so too are the ways in which we suffer. For this reason, the trajectory of the work is always individually assessed and tailored to each specific case.

A central focus of this approach is on speech; on what you say and how you say it. In our sessions, you are invited to speak freely, without restriction or censorship. The idea is to allow unconscious formations to emerge through speech. A slip of the tongue, for example, is not merely an error in speaking. It is rather an indication of something other that intrudes, and tries to pierce through what one may call our ordinary way of speaking. This form of counselling creates a space to explore such formations and to work through issues that transpire during the process.

Sessions Overview

Session Length

A unique characteristic of the Lacanian orientation is the variable length session – there is no fixed duration. Sessions may end at different moments, allowing the timing itself to become part of the counselling process. This practice encourages reflection and allows the work to continue beyond the session.

Our Sessions and Medical Treatments

What I offer does not constitute a replacement for medical treatment by psychiatrists or psychotherapists. I offer counselling sessions that do not include giving a diagnosis, but rather focus on one’s words, particularities, and subjective experiences.

Session Fees

Session fees are not covered by the German public health insurance system and must therefore be paid privately.
